How can I sort categories in custom / fixed order?

Keshif dynamically orders the categories to reveal the most common categories first, and updates the ordering after filtering, which changes distributions and relevant categories. Dynamic ordering is enabled by default to help you rapidly explore the most important trends.

In some cases, you may want to define your custom category order, and keep the order fixed. This is useful if your data has logical order (such as "small", "medium", "large", "huge", and survey responses). Fixed ordering can also sharpen your analysis focus on change of distribution per category, without reordering changes. Here's how you can set custom and fixed categorical ordering in just a few steps.

1) Open configuration panel, and select Fixed categorical order. Once the category order is fixed, dashboard changes will not affect the order.

2) To customize the order, enable the "Adjust" mode, and drag categories using the reordering icon.

The reordering icon is only visible if the chart uses "fixed" category ordering, a setting described above. Any change you make to the ordering is saved automatically with the dashboard, so you can continue your data exploration later with fixed order, or share dashboards which include the fixed ordering.

Enabling dynamic order again

You can re-enable dynamic ordering by opening the configuration, and selecting Dynamic order.
