◆ Measuring aggregated data for analysis

Keshif uses measurement functions to summarize data points and display them in a way that is understandable to our users.

This measurement setting is the basis of trend analyses across the dataset including record group comparisons. Keshif automatically adjusts analytics settings according to the measured data features – counting the number of records, or taking the sum or average of a numeric attribute.

Changing the attribute used in the measurement function, like number of records or number of apartments, changes the axes across all charts. This is a useful way to change the perspective of how you're comparing datasets – not just by the number of rows, but sum of monthly price or number of beds.

Measurement functions

Count function

  • The count function is the default and basic function for analysis. It counts the number of records (data rows) within each attribute across charts.

Sum function

  • The sum function can be used with a numeric attribute, for example to measure total people affected, total votes, or total cost.

Average function

  • The average function can be used with a numeric attribute, for example to measure average age, average cost, or average temperature.
